What if a member of my team has to pull out?
You can substitute a team member without providing a reason to Deaf CanDo. Providing the substitute still meets race requirements (ie right age for family team).
To do this the person wishing to withdraw needs to notify Deaf CanDo by letter or by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

What will happen if it raining on the day of the race? The race will go ahead; rain, hail or shine.

Will I need to be fit? A basic level of fitness is needed to complete the race. Obviously those who can move faster will have an advantage but there are many things that can advantage you including problem solving skills, local knowledge and of course luck!

How long will the race take? The race will start at 10am and most teams will finish by about 3pm. Any teams not complete by 4pm will need to stop racing and return to the finish line for the awarding of prizes.

What do I need to bring? You will need to bring a few items with you including a camera or a phone that takes photos. We will email participants a complete list of anything they need in the weeks leading up to the race.

How do we get about during the race? Transport is either provided or is on foot. You cannot take a car, bike or taxi for the race. Cheaters are deemed not to be in the spirit of the race and are disqualified.

Can I use my phone for help? Yes, you can phone a friend on the race, but anyone using a phone, even if it is not a call about the race must be seated at the time they are using the phone.

What if I don't reach my fundraising target? Any money raised becomes the property of Deaf CanDo. In our last Amazing Race every team made the fundraising target and most of them said it was easy. If you are having trouble contact the Event Coordinator on 8100 8236 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for advice.

Do I need to bring food and drink? Not unless you have very specific dietary requirements. Lunch, snacks, drinks and a bbq dinner will be supplied as part of the race and there will be a vegetarian option.

Why are family teams allowed to have four people? It is difficult for a family to take part in the event if they are taking one child and leaving another out. We want to encourage more families to take part in the race and as they are competing for different prizes it does not disadvantage other teams in the race.
